  • My dark blue hulled Rustler 36 had several scratches in its gel coat. These were at least one metre long, 4-5mm wide and almost through the gel coat. Finding a professional able to colour match the existing gel coat and accurately fill and fare the damage was hard. Several would not touch it. Dom of DM Boat Repairs went to inordinate trouble to accomplish this repair. It is invisible. He did it in the timescale and for the cost initially stated. I do not hesitate to recommend DM Boat Repairs for anyone requiring work on their boat.

  • Dom turned out within 24 hours of asking to fix my wind speed sender and replace a nav bulb at the top of my 12m mast. He ascended twice with ease and fixed the issues within an hour. He also made a photographic survey of the rigging for future reference.  100% recommendation. “Tip-top” efficient service with a smile!

  • We have used Dom for many jobs on 'Symphony', from cleaning to mechanical and structural. Dom always takes super care and ensures the work is to the highest standard. It always feels like Dom treats our yacht as if it was his own. He discusses options and gives sound advice – a voice of experience. A thorough professional who also completes the work on time. We have been so lucky to find someone who cares about how well the work is done as much as we do."

  • We own a 11m steel junk rigged unstayed schooner, which we built ourselves. In the last year or so Dom has climbed our main mast to reconfigure the halyard, repaired the damaged Coppercoat antifouling and recharged the black topsides with a polyurethane tarfree micaceous iron oxide coating. Dom has proven to be very reliable, practical, competent and trustworthy and we have no hesitation in recommending him.

  • Dom has just replaced all the headlining and refurbished the windows on my 52 year old classic yacht. He has gone to a great deal of trouble to produce a first class result and I am delighted. He has been professional throughout, from initial quotation to handover, and has taken great pride in his work and shown attention to detail in every aspect of the job. His main concern has been that I have been happy with his work - I take pleasure in recommending him to any boat owner who is in need of work by a skilled professional.

  • Dominic has changed masthead lights. He has arrived promptly at the agreed time, always with all the required kit, and done a very professional job at a most reasonable cost. He will be the first person I would call for any problem that might arise on my boat.

  • Due to the epidemic my 44 foot yacht had not been used or cleaned since March 2020. When she was lifted in February 2021. again due to the epidemic, only professional companies were allowed to work on the boats. Dom did a fantastic job on the teak deck, stainless steel, coach roof, topsides and antifoul, taking them from a complete mess to shining like almost new.

  • When our genoa halyard broke on our maiden trip, Dom was available instantly, even showing up to the boat within an hour of calling him on a Friday evening. As soon as the storm winds slowed down, Dom came over and was up the mast to assess the situation - and taking pictures too for us to see what he saw. He helped us invert the genoa halyard so we could be quickly on our way without having to wait for a rigger. Would definitely work with Dom again!

  • At Brixham I literally stumbled on Dom who was up the mast of a nearby boat. After establishing that it was not the owner up the mast, Dom kindly popped round later that day to fix a windex and change a deck light bulb on the way down. Being a keen climber, he was up and down in no time at all and had all his own equipment. A very professional approach to everything including a quick inspection of the masthead rigging with photographs. We live some hundreds of miles away and I am glad that we have found someone very local to Brixham who can also keep an eye on the boat with a regular clean and inspection of warps etc – especially as we stay afloat all year round

  • I instantly warmed to Dom, he was clearly an expert in his field and such a nice guy as well. One thing led to another and trust built up very quickly. I could tell Dom was a genuine, knowledgeable and competent expert. He answered a ton of novice questions from me as we spoke. Talk moved from polishing and cleaning of my new (to me) boat, on to what repairs I could make over time to bring her up to tip top condition.  Dom kept his word on timings and stuck within the estimated costs, in fact he probably did slightly more work than the estimate covered but the price didn’t go up, he just wanted the job completed fully and me to be pleased with the end result. He definitely treats his customers fairly. I could not have been more pleased with the job he did. He brought a real sparkle and shine to my new pride and joy and took real care and attention with the detail, both working on the hull, woodwork and rails along with interior & exterior cleaning. I was so pleased that it only took another couple of weeks before I was asking Dom to move on to the next job on the list. He has a specific set of skills which are all listed on his website. I couldn’t recommend him more highly for the work he has done on filling cracks, dents and bumps that had accumulated over several years with a previous owner of my boat. Dom is a pleasure to deal with and as a novice to boating I really appreciated finding someone trustworthy who delivered work of such a high standard.

  • Dominic has such a wealth of experience in owning and sailing his own vessel in the English Channel. As a result any work aloft, on deck and below the waterline can be put in his capable hands. We have owned a long-keeled sailing boat in wood, steel and GRP since 1963 and for the first time desperately needed help with a long overdue refit. Dominic was reliable and thorough, returning our boat to its previous proud condition.

  • Dom has helped me on a number of jobs over the four years I have owned Nimrod. For me, ascending a 14m mast was just a bit too much but Dom has been up both masts to replace a bulb, a malfunctioning horn, an anemometer and to replace lines. He has also checked rigging and taken photos. At lower levels he has changed seals in a stuffing box, carried out gel coat repairs, cleaned decking and applied anti-foul. All of these jobs were carried out enthusiastically and to a high level of ability. He is in much demand in our area. Appreciated and I will employ again.

  • Since Dom helped me with the mast climbing, I now have a regular monthly contract where Dom does a complete wash down to remove the inevitable seagull mess, polish the stainless steel, keep the teak in good order and generally make sure that all lines and fenders etc are in the right place! Living 300 miles away it is reassuring that Dom keeps an eye on things even when working on other boats at Brixham.

  • Dominic has changed masthead lights for me, and cut ropes under water to free a propeller. He has arrived promptly at the agreed time, always with all the required kit, and done a very professional job at a most reasonable cost. He will be the first person I would call for any problem that might arise on my boat.

  • We were towed into Brixham by the life boat with a broken forstay and needing repairs to continue our trip. We found Doms business card in the marina facilities and gave him a call. We met the same day and he had a look. He repaired everything quickly and gave us advice on the local coastline so we could continue our trip safely. He is very experienced and knows what he’s doing, Thanks Dom!
